Suvendu Adhikari inaugurates Santosh Mitra Square Durga Puja pandal

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated the Durga Puja pandal at Santosh Mitra Square in Kolkata. The 91st year of celebrations features a ‘Vande Mataram’ theme to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song.

The pandal is dedicated to India’s freedom struggle and the legacy of the 1947 Partition. The installation includes a structure shaped like the map of India, a replica of the Red Fort, and a train installation depicting the mass exodus of the Partition era. The display also pays tribute to freedom fighters Khudiram Bose and Matangini Hazra, and includes a statue of Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

Adhikari, accompanied by various BJP leaders including Sunil Bansal and Sukanta Majumdar, stated that this year’s celebrations would honor Sanatan culture. The event also featured a light-and-sound show tracing India’s journey since independence.
