Suvendu Adhikari leads protest march at Jadavpur University

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is leading the ‘Gerua Samman Yatra’ in South Kolkata to protest against anti-national slogans and graffiti at Jadavpur University (JU).

The procession is scheduled to begin at the Golpark crossing and conclude near the 8B bus stand crossing near the university campus. Adhikari has accused previous Left Front and Trinamool Congress governments of allowing anti-national elements to flourish within the university.

In response to the rally and potential unrest, Jadavpur University administration has decided to close four main gates of the campus from 4:00 PM on Wednesday, though Gate No. 1 will remain open for students and staff. Kolkata Police have implemented extensive security measures to ensure the safety of the Chief Minister and to prevent any untoward incidents during the march. Traffic on Raja Subodh Chandra Mallick Road will be temporarily restricted during the event.
