Suwałki awards 6.5 million PLN contract for Zastawie Street reconstruction
The city of Suwałki has awarded a tender for the reconstruction of Zastawie Street and the expansion of Artyleryjska Street. The contract, valued at 6,542,155.02 PLN, was awarded to the local firm MEGA-KOP Emilia Jankowska under a ‘design and build’ model.
The project includes rebuilding the roadway, constructing a new ‘green’ roundabout at the intersection of Zastawie and Kawaleryjska streets, and developing pedestrian and bicycle paths. Additional works involve installing approximately 40 LED streetlights, upgrading water and sewage networks, and removing architectural barriers for people with disabilities.
Following consultations with residents and Mayor Czesław Renkiewicz, the project design was modified to include raised pedestrian crossings and a reduced number of parking spaces. The implementation is expected to take up to 440 days, with funding sought from the Government Fund for Road Development.
