Suwałki hit‑and‑run claims life of 31‑year‑old father

On the night of 26 July 2026, 31‑year‑old Łukasz was fatally struck on the Kościuszki street pedestrian crossing in Suwałki, Poland. He had just taken a bite of take‑away food when the traffic light turned green and he stepped onto the crossing. A black Mercedes accelerated and hit him, throwing his body several metres. Łukasz died at the scene.

The driver did not stop; he fled the scene while two passengers in the vehicle were later detained by police. Suwałki police have marked the collision area with bright lines and are continuing the search for the driver, whose identity has not been released. The victim’s widow has issued an emotional appeal for information, noting that Łukasz left a wife and two young daughters. The community expressed shock and grief, and police have urged witnesses to contact the Suwałki police command.
