Suwałki mayor says 2026 streetball court impossible, will consider future budget

City councilor Wojciech Fałtynowicz of the Razem dla Suwałk club submitted an interpellation to Suwałki mayor Czesław Renkiewicz requesting the construction of a streetball court in Park Północny. The proposal, part of the 2027 Suwałki Citizens' Budget, received 752 resident votes, indicating strong local support.

Mayor Renkiewicz replied that the project cannot be funded in the 2026 municipal budget because it was not included in the city’s financial plan. He said the possibility of financing the court will be examined when preparing next year’s budget. He also noted recent renovations of school basketball courts funded by the Physical Culture Development Fund, and mentioned an unsuccessful 2026 request for a playground grant that did not receive enough votes in the Citizens' Budget.
