Suwon City to restructure administration on October 1

Suwon City will implement a major organizational restructuring effective October 1 to support its three primary administrative goals: creating a stable livelihood city, a cultural tourism coexistence city, and an advanced science research city.

The restructuring will expand the city's administrative framework from 2 offices, 9 bureaus, and 140 departments to 2 offices, 11 bureaus, and 145 departments. The total number of civil servants will increase by 127, rising from 3,805 to 3,932.

Key changes include:

• Safety and Transportation: The existing Safety and Transportation Bureau will be split into a dedicated Safety Bureau and a Transportation Bureau. A new Structure Management Division will be established to oversee the maintenance of major infrastructure.

• Citizen Communication: A new Citizen Communication Bureau will be created to integrate communication, press, and public relations functions.

• Economic and Livelihood Support: A Living Cost Reduction Task Force will be launched to address expenses such as education, medical, and transportation costs. Additionally, the Economic Policy Bureau will become the Livelihood Economy Bureau, including a new Small Business Division.

• Tourism and Industry: A Global Festival Division will be established, and the Tourism Division will be reorganized into the Tourism Industry Division. The AI Smart Policy Bureau will be reorganized into the Advanced Industry AI Bureau to better integrate advanced industries, AI strategy, and corporate support.
