Suwon drug video suspect confesses to using methamphetamine abroad

A man in his 30s, who gained notoriety after a video of him walking with an unnatural, hunched posture went viral in Suwon, has confessed to using methamphetamine abroad. The Suwon Kwonseon Police Station announced that the individual, referred to as A, will be transferred to the prosecution on arrest for violating the Narcotics Control Act.

A's investigation began in June after footage of him staggering near a bus stop in Suwon sparked suspicions of drug use. While an initial urine test returned a negative result, a detailed hair analysis by the National Forensic Service confirmed the presence of methamphetamine. Following a search of his residence in July, where a small amount of the drug was found, he was arrested.

Although A initially denied drug use, claiming he was taking prescribed psychiatric medication, he eventually admitted to using methamphetamine while overseas earlier this year. He maintains that he has not used the drug within South Korea. Police are also investigating an acquaintance, B, for allegedly providing psychotropic substances to A.
