Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun unveils four-year municipal vision
Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun has announced a four-year vision for the ninth popularly elected administration, titled ‘Completion of the Suwon Transformation.’ The plan focuses on three primary municipal goals: creating a stable livelihood city, a win-win cultural tourism city, and an advanced science research city.
To reduce the cost of living, the city aims to support bus fares for youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities, while expanding free online lectures and family care allowances. Research from the Suwon Research Institute suggests that a five-person household receiving all three major living expense supports could reduce annual expenses by approximately 10.49 million won.
In terms of tourism, the city plans to develop the ‘King Jeongjo Procession K-Culture Road’ into a global brand to encourage longer stays and increased local spending. Additionally, the city seeks to foster an advanced science research hub by leveraging existing corporations and universities to drive technological growth and high-quality job creation through projects like the Topdong Innovation Valley.
