Suzukake sweets gain popularity at Isetan Shinjuku

Suzukake’s ‘Suzunoenmochi’ has become a viral sensation at the Isetan Shinjuku department store. The small, approximately 5cm diameter Japanese confection features a chewy skin made from Saga Prefecture’s Hiyokumochi glutinous rice, which is hand-baked by skilled artisans.

The sweet is filled with a special mixture of smooth smooth bean paste and whole red beans sourced from Tokachi, Hokkaido. Social media users have praised the product for its texture and classic flavor profile, noting that its bite-sized nature makes it easy to consume multiple pieces.
