Suzuki launches 5‑door Jimny Nomad SUV and JAOS unveils rear sports cowl upgrade

Suzuki introduced the Jimny Nomad, the first 5‑door, long‑wheelbase version of its iconic Jimny SUV, for the Japanese market in January 2025. The model features an extended wheelbase of 340 mm, a spacious rear seat and cargo area, and retains the off‑road capability of earlier Jimny variants. After strong demand led to a temporary halt in orders, Suzuki increased production to 3,300 units per month and resumed sales in January 2026 with a specification update that adds a 9‑inch infotainment display and other refinements.

Separately, aftermarket parts maker JAOS released a dedicated rear‑sports cowl for the Jimny Nomad JC74 (first‑generation) model. The bolt‑on kit preserves the factory‑installed rear parking sensors, adds a round‑four‑lamp LED tail‑light assembly compliant with ECE regulations, and includes a LED rear fog lamp. Designed to maintain departure angle and pass vehicle inspections, the cowl can be installed in roughly three hours without cutting any vehicle wiring.

Both developments highlight the growing popularity of the Jimny Nomad in Japan and the expanding ecosystem of accessories tailored to its longer wheelbase design.
