Suzuki to launch e-Sky mini EV in Japan

Suzuki is set to debut its first battery-powered mini car, the e-Sky, in Japan on November 16. The compact electric vehicle is designed as an entry-level model and is expected to be one of the lowest-priced options in its category.

The e-Sky features a 26kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, likely sourced from rival BYD, and offers a claimed range of up to 310 kilometers under the WLTC cycle. It is built on the dedicated HEARTECT-e platform, which integrates the battery, motor, inverter, and reduction gear.

Pricing for the e-Sky starts at approximately 2.12 million yen ($13,387) for the base variant. If the vehicle qualifies for Japan’s 568,000-yen CEV subsidy, the effective price could drop significantly, making it more competitive against rivals like the BYD Racco and Nissan Sakura. Suzuki is targeting monthly sales of approximately 1,000 units in its home market.
