Suzzara and Arezzo enforce strict public alcohol bans

The municipality of Suzzara, led by Mayor Alessandro Guastalli, issued an ordinance that took effect on 4 August 2024. It prohibits the consumption, possession and take‑away sale of alcoholic and strong alcoholic drinks in the historic centre, public parks, and the railway station area until 30 September 2026. The rule also bans night‑time (21:00‑07:00) sales for take‑away alcohol in all shops, supermarkets and vending machines, while allowing consumption inside licensed bars, restaurants and at authorised events.

A separate ordinance applies to the Stadio Comunale in Arezzo. Effective 1 August 2024, it bans the sale and use of alcoholic beverages in glass bottles or cans within a 500‑metre radius of the stadium on match days, and forbids drinks with an alcohol content above 5 % ABV. The restrictions start three hours before a game and remain in force until one hour after the final whistle, and will stay in place until 15 June 2027. Violations are subject to monetary fines.
