Sven Regener discusses new novel set in 1980s Berlin

Author and musician Sven Regener discusses his new novel, ‘Frankie und Freddie’, which is set in Berlin during the 1980s. Despite the setting, Regener stated that he does not long for that era, describing it as a ‘vanished world’.

The novel focuses on the SO36 area of Kreuzberg in December 1980. Regener, also known as the singer and trumpeter for the band Element of Crime, noted that while some landmarks like the ‘Madonna Bar’ still exist, the neighborhood has changed significantly due to increased tourism and gentrification.
