Sven Schulze pushes dual‑citizenship revocation for terror suspects amid campaign backlash

Saxony‑Anhalt Minister‑President Sven Schulze (CDU) said he will examine revoking German citizenship and deporting dual nationals classified as dangerous or terrorist. He stressed the issue should not be partisan and cited regular meetings with survivors of the Magdeburg Christmas‑market attack. Schulze previously misstated that the Berlin CSD attacker held dual citizenship, later correcting himself. The AfD also calls for stripping citizenship from terror suspects.

At the same time, Schulze’s CDU election campaign has drawn sharp criticism. Controversial appearances, such as a show with performer Didi Hallervorden, and other gaffes have led some party officials to call for a ban on his public engagements before the September state election, arguing the antics could boost the AfD’s vote share.
