Sven Teuber draws inspiration from children as new Rhineland‑Palatinate minister

Sven Teuber, a 43‑year‑old SPD politician, left his post as Rhineland‑Palatinate education minister after roughly one year to assume the portfolio of Municipal, Building and Culture. In his new role, he describes himself as a “homeland minister” responsible for local government, housing, construction and cultural affairs.

Teuber says his most important source of motivation comes from conversations with children and young people, calling them his “inspiration and strength.” He emphasizes the value of direct exchange with citizens, especially youth, and plans to let those encounters guide his work across the state’s diverse regions.

His background as a teacher and former education minister informs his approach to the broader portfolio, which he says will focus on the varied needs of towns, cities and villages throughout Rhineland‑Palatinate.
