Sveta Klara celebrates annual Klarinje festival

The annual celebration of Saint Clare, known as ‘Klarinje’, is taking place in the Sveta Klara neighborhood. The festivities, which began on August 7 and conclude on the feast day of Saint Clare, feature a diverse program including religious services, cultural performances, a luna park, gastro offerings, and sports tournaments such as football and padel.

A central religious service will be led by Marko Kovač, the assistant bishop of Zagreb. The cultural program includes performances by various folklore groups and majorettes, as well as a football match between NK Polet Sveta Klara and NK Rudeš.

However, the event has sparked local debate regarding noise levels and musical choices. Some residents have expressed frustration on social media over loud music lasting until 2:00 AM for multiple consecutive nights, while others defend the tradition as a standard part of local community life.
