Sveti Križ Začretje hosts 58th Prvi glas Zagorja festival

The 58th edition of the ‘Prvi glas Zagorja’ festival has officially opened in Sveti Križ Začretje, Croatia. The week-long event features a diverse program of cultural, sporting, and musical activities designed to appeal to all generations.

A central highlight of the festival is the ‘Purica i vino’ (Turkey and Wine) family day, which has been held for six consecutive years. During this gastronomic event, five catering teams prepare approximately 500 kg of turkey, showcasing both traditional recipes like turkey with mlinci and modern variations, such as turkey baked with porcini mushrooms and cheese.

Mayor Marko Kos noted that the festival has grown from a small experiment into a significant gathering that attracts visitors from various regions. Zlatka Vuglec, director of the Srce Zagorja tourist board, described the event as a major tourist draw that complements the broader eight-day festival program.
