Svishtov to connect to Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo motorway via new road project

The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) has launched a public tender to develop an expanded conceptual design and conduct engineering-geological studies for a new road connecting Svishtov to the future Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo motorway. The project, estimated at 600,000 euros excluding VAT, aims to improve Svishtov's access to major transport corridors, including the Hemus motorway.

Two route options are currently under consideration. The first option is approximately 25 kilometers long, starting from the eastern part of Svishtov and connecting to the motorway via a junction near the town of Byala. The second option is longer, at roughly 33 kilometers, starting from the western exit of Svishtov via road II-52 and connecting to the motorway through a junction between Strahilovo and Polski Trambesh.

The design and geological study phase is expected to take 430 calendar days, divided into three stages. This infrastructure development is intended to support the Svishtov-Zimnicea ferry line and the Danube Industrial Technological Park, facilitating better freight movement and economic investment in the region.
