SWAN President pledges vehicle for Bayelsa chapter

Isaiah Benjamin, the National President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has pledged to address mobility issues facing the association’s Bayelsa chapter. During a visit to the chapter on Monday, Benjamin noted that the lack of a functional vehicle has hindered the activities of local sports journalists.

To resolve this, Benjamin intends to engage with the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports and other stakeholders, including Daniel Igali, to secure a vehicle for the association.

Benjamin also highlighted broader financial and logistical challenges faced by SWAN at both state and national levels. He cited the association’s recent trip to the United Kingdom for the Commonwealth Games, noting that they were initially allocated only two media slots. He further explained that short notice for the trip forced officials to use priority visa services, resulting in personal costs of approximately N1.5 million each for processing. Benjamin emphasized his commitment to fiscal responsibility, stating that association funds should only be used for their intended purposes.
