Swansea City midfielder Franco injured as club reveals pre‑season schedule

Swansea City confirmed that midfielder Gonçalo Franco has suffered a serious lower‑leg injury and was taken to Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea. The extent of the injury remains unclear, and the club has not provided a timetable for his return. In response, Swansea are reportedly scouting replacements, with names such as Trey Nyoni and Manchester City defender Stephen Mfuni mentioned as potential targets.

The club also announced its pre‑season programme, which includes a match against Italian side Udinese in Austria on 24 July, preceded by games with German clubs Holstein Kiel and VFL Bochum. A home friendly against Spanish side CD Leganes is set for 1 August, followed by the first competitive fixture of the 2026‑27 season – a Carabao Cup tie at home to Birmingham City on 8 August. Midfielder Ethan Galbraith, who moved to Stoke City earlier this month, praised Stoke’s ambition in his remarks.

These developments affect Swansea City’s squad planning and preparation for the upcoming season.
