Birmingham City defeat Wrexham 2-1 to secure first Championship win

Birmingham City secured their first win of the EFL Championship season with a 2-1 victory over Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground. The match ended Wrexham’s winless start to the campaign but extended their search for a first league victory.

Phil Neumann scored both goals for Birmingham, heading in at the far post in the 13th minute and regaining the lead after Wrexham had equalized. Callum Doyle scored the equalizer for Wrexham in the second half following a cross from Lewis O’Brien.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed frustration with the performance, describing the goals conceded as “the softest goals we’ve conceded” in his time at the club. Despite dominating possession, Wrexham struggled with defensive lapses and missed opportunities, including a significant chance by Jay Stansfield.
