Swansea couple plead guilty to displaying Nazi symbols on boat

Jake Dearie, 33, and Ashleigh Wilkins, 34, pleaded guilty in Newcastle Local Court to displaying prohibited Nazi symbols in a public place. The incident involved a custom decorative wrap applied to a boat parked in Swansea in December last year.

The decals featured antisemitic imagery, including an image of Adolf Hitler with the phrase “Get Das Jews,” the words “Jew slayer,” and multiple reversed swastikas. The couple claimed the imagery was intended as a “pun of the century,” referencing mulloway fish, which are commonly known as “jewfish.”

Police were notified of the boat on December 6, following a report from a member of the public. Dearie was arrested on December 16, shortly after an antisemitic attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach. While Wilkins owns the vessel, it is registered in Dearie's name.
