Swansea fatal crash claims life of 92-year-old passenger

A 92-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle collision in Swansea on Wednesday, August 26. Emergency services responded to the intersection of Rawson and Pelican streets around 12:05 p.m. following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District reported that a Subaru SUV and a Toyota utility vehicle collided. The passenger of the Subaru, the 92-year-old woman, received treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being transported to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition. She later died in the hospital.

The 67-year-old female driver of the Subaru was also taken to John Hunter Hospital for assessment. The 36-year-old male driver of the Toyota was uninjured and was taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory testing. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
