Swaraj Tractors and Mahindra Susten commission large solar project in Punjab
Swaraj Tractors and Mahindra Susten have commissioned a 42 MWp group captive solar project in Bathinda, Punjab. This installation is among the largest of its kind in the state.
The project is designed to meet approximately 50% of the electricity requirements for Swaraj Tractors’ manufacturing, assembly, and foundry operations located in Mohali, Punjab. Spanning roughly 141 acres, the facility utilizes high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon bifacial solar modules on fixed-tilt structures. To maintain the modules, semi-automated robotic cleaning systems will be employed, which is expected to save an estimated 1.92 million liters of water annually.
Any residual capacity from the project is intended to supply renewable electricity to other Mahindra Group entities operating within Punjab. This initiative aligns with the Mahindra Group’s broader sustainability goals and efforts to transition toward a low-carbon manufacturing ecosystem.
