Swarzędź shooting: Woman dies after being shot by former partner

A 46-year-old woman, Hanna H., has died in a hospital following a shooting in Swarzędź, Poland. The victim was found on Saturday, August 15, with a critical head wound in the stairwell of her residential building. Preliminary findings suggest the injury was caused by a black powder weapon.

The suspect, 51-year-old Remigiusz Z., fled the scene and hid from police for two days. He was eventually discovered on Sunday night hiding in cardboard boxes near a church. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the act, claiming he did it ‘out of love.’

While initially charged with attempted murder, prosecutors intend to upgrade the charge to murder following the victim's death. The investigation is ongoing, and the weapon used in the attack has been secured by authorities.
