Sweden advances security through cloud management and cyber defense training

Sweden is seeing a significant shift in security management and cyber defense preparedness. In the realm of physical security, cloud-based management of security data is replacing traditional local server setups. This transition offers property owners and security firms increased accessibility, allowing for real-time monitoring of camera feeds and alarm logs via mobile devices, and providing greater scalability for large-scale operations.

Simultaneously, the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is addressing the rising threat of cyberattacks through its Crate, Cyber range and training environment. This facility utilizes a miniature city—complete with simulated hospitals, power plants, and transport systems—to train employees from various sectors to defend against digital attacks from hostile actors. Security researcher David Lindahl emphasizes that these exercises are vital to prevent societal collapse caused by digital crimes that target essential services like food supply, electricity, and media.
