Sweden and Denmark launch OligoSynergy RNA innovation project

Sweden and Denmark have launched the OligoSynergy project, a cross-border collaboration designed to advance therapeutic oligonucleotide research. The initiative connects life-science capabilities between western Sweden and Denmark, specifically targeting the development of short synthetic DNA or RNA molecules that can influence gene expression with high precision.

The project is a partnership between GU Ventures, an innovation and investment company linked to the University of Gothenburg, and the Copenhagen-based BioInnovation Institute. Rather than focusing on a single drug program, OligoSynergy serves as a commercialization platform to help early-stage companies transition from laboratory research to validated products and commercial development.

Targeting companies in the preclinical and early clinical phases, the platform provides access to research expertise, clinical knowledge, industrial capabilities, and investor networks. The project aims to address the complex requirements of drug development, including laboratory validation, regulatory knowledge, and intellectual property management. The collaboration is funded by Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak and Region Västra Götaland.
