Sweden and Finland offer subsidies for home energy renovations

Homeowners in Sweden and Finland are accessing various government supports and advisory services to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs through renovations.

In Sweden, the 'Villaeffekten' state subsidy, which opened for applications on September 1, offers up to 60,000 SEK to help homeowners make their houses more energy-efficient. The grant covers up to 30 percent of approved material costs for improvements such as installing heat pumps, adding insulation, or replacing windows and doors. To assist with the process, municipal energy advisors are hosting digital meetings in collaboration with Boverket to explain eligibility and application procedures.

In Finland, energy renovation support is available for residential buildings to improve efficiency. Housing companies can apply for energy subsidies for repairs, with grants of up to 4,000 euros per dwelling covering up to 50 percent of approved costs. Additionally, households can utilize tax deductions for labor costs related to energy-efficient maintenance and renovations. Advisory services, such as those provided by Motiva, offer free guidance on increasing energy efficiency and utilizing renewable energy.
