Sweden and Singapore sign declaration on trusted technology
The governments of Sweden and Singapore have signed the ‘Joint Declaration on Strategic Cooperation on Trusted and Innovative Technologies’ to enhance bilateral cooperation on emerging technologies. The agreement was signed at Ericsson’s Stockholm headquarters during a state visit by Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, in the presence of Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf.
The declaration focuses on strengthening competitiveness in the digital economy, specifically highlighting the roles of 5G and 6G mobile connectivity. Ericsson CEO Per Narvinger emphasized that resilient, secure, and trusted connectivity is essential for the advancement of technologies such as artificial intelligence. The partnership aims to leverage the complementary strengths of government, industry, and academia from both nations to foster mutual prosperity.
President Shanmugaratnam’s visit, which marks 60 years of diplomatic relations, includes a broader business programme. The delegation is scheduled to meet with leaders from companies including Spotify and Volvo to discuss digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and the future of transport.
