Sweden announces Nations League squad ahead of Romania matches

Sweden national team coach Graham Potter has announced his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Romania. The roster includes prominent players such as Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres, alongside Taha Abdi Ali, whose background has drawn attention. Ali, born in Stockholm to Somali refugees, previously worked as a metro security guard and played in lower leagues after a period of struggling with video game addiction.

In a significant roster change, veteran goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has announced his retirement from international football. Nordfeldt, 37, was omitted from the squad as Potter expressed a desire to transition toward younger goalkeepers to build experience for the future. Nordfeldt stated his decision was a natural progression due to his age and follows his participation in the recent World Cup.
