Sweden begins early voting for parliamentary and local elections

Early voting for the Swedish parliamentary, regional, and municipal elections has commenced, running from August 26 through September 13.

In Lerum Municipality, five locations are available for early voting, including Lerum, Floda, Gråbo, Tollered, and Sjövik. Local officials have recruited approximately 250 staff members to manage the process. Historical data indicates a high trend in early voting, with 48 percent of the national population participating early in the 2022 election.

In Uppsala Municipality, 19 early voting locations are active, supplemented by a mobile voting bus that will visit 16 different rural stops. For the 2026 election cycle, voters with digital mailboxes will receive digital voting cards. On the official election day, September 13, polling stations will be open from 08:00 to 20:00. Voters are reminded to bring valid identification, such as a passport or driver's license, to all polling locations.
