Sweden celebrates part-time firefighters on national campaign day

Sweden is observing ‘Brandman på jobbet-dagen’ (Firefighter at Work Day), a national campaign marking the eighth consecutive year dedicated to honoring part-time firefighters and the employers who support them.

The campaign highlights the ability of individuals to combine primary careers with emergency service duties. In Ljusdal Municipality, project manager Tobias Svedman shares his experience transitioning from IT to the physical and practical demands of rescue work to serve his local community.

In the Stöllet rescue force, part-time firefighters Malin Jonsson and Anders Johansson exemplify the dual-role lifestyle. Jonsson serves as a nurse and assistant unit manager for Region Värmland, while Johansson works in logistics at a Bolist store. The campaign continues to seek new recruits for various rescue services across the country.
