Sweden crime: Victim of gang rape dies by suicide

A victim of a violent sexual assault has died by suicide, sparking criticism regarding the Swedish justice system and state compensation. The victim, identified as Petra, was subjected to a brutal home invasion and gang rape by two men. While the perpetrators were sentenced to prison, the victim received only 3,000 SEK in damages due to the offenders' lack of assets.

Controversy has arisen because the state reportedly paid 840,000 SEK to one of the perpetrators, citing that he had served too much time in prison, despite the severity of the torture inflicted upon the victim.

In a related case involving immigration and crime, a man named Damir Al-Ali, who was sentenced in 2017 for kidnapping and raping a woman in Malmö, was ordered to be deported to Syria. However, the deportation was delayed by five years, and the individual returned to Sweden only four days after being expelled.
