Sweden criticizes Spain's mass regularization policies

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has criticized the Spanish government's mass regularization policies, describing them as a ‘very bad idea’ that could jeopardize European stability. In an interview with the Financial Times, Kristersson warned that such measures could trigger a migration crisis similar to the one seen in 2015, noting that migrants often prefer traveling to northern Europe.

Kristersson stated he has already communicated his dissatisfaction to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez regarding the plan, which aims to resolve the administrative status of approximately 1.2 million people. While the Spanish regularization offers residency and work permits within Spain rather than the entire European Union, the Swedish leader emphasized the need for harmonized policies and strengthened border protection.

These remarks follow similar criticisms from the leaders of Italy and Denmark, who recently issued a joint statement linking uncontrolled immigration to increased crime and the saturation of public services.
