Sweden Democrats face election loss as Ed Sheeran faces tour controversy

In Sweden, the Sweden Democrats (SD) experienced a historic decline in the recent parliamentary election, receiving 17.5 percent of the vote. This represents a three-percentage-point decrease compared to the previous election, marking the first time the party has seen a retreat in a national election. Party leadership expressed shock at the results, noting losses across all 33 municipalities in Skåne.

Separately, musician Ed Sheeran is facing criticism following the removal of Macklemore from his tour. Macklemore was reportedly dismissed after shouting “Free Palestine” and performing a song describing the situation in Gaza during shows in New Jersey. Critics, including music journalist Jeffrey Ingold and activist Greta Thunberg, have labeled Sheeran’s refusal to take a political stand against arena owners as “cowardly.” Several other artists, such as Finneas and Lukas Graham, have also withdrawn from the tour in protest.
