Sweden Democrats join Region Skåne governing leadership

The Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna) have joined the political leadership of Region Skåne for the first time. As part of the new governing body, the party will hold responsibility for healthcare, public transport, and the long-term development of the Skåne region over the next four years.

Niclas Nilsson, the party group leader and regional councillor, outlined key objectives including reducing healthcare queues, improving accessibility, and increasing the availability of care closer to patients' homes. The party aims to expand advanced care in domestic settings to free up hospital resources.

Regarding fiscal policy, the party intends to focus on efficiency and resource management to avoid tax increases. Additionally, the leadership plans to combat welfare crime, corruption, and administrative bureaucracy to ensure regional funds are directed toward patient care and medical staff.
