Sweden Democrats MEP criticizes Prime Minister Kristersson

Charlie Weimers, a prominent Sweden Democrats (SD) Member of the European Parliament, has expressed dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson following a televised party leader debate. Weimers stated that the SD delegation in the European Parliament believed Kristersson’s performance deserved criticism, specifically regarding the Prime Minister’s response to a question about whether Swedish values should be a requirement for residency.

Weimers suggested that the Prime Minister should be replaced by Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, noting that the criticism is intended to prompt Kristersson to reconsider his stance. While Strömmer is frequently cited as a potential successor due to high popularity within the Moderate Party, the comments from a leading figure within the Tidö coalition partner may cause controversy given the agreement's emphasis on respectful discourse between coalition members.
