Jimmie Åkesson advises against voting for Liberal Party

Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson has issued a strategic directive advising supporters not to cast support votes for the Liberal Party (L). Åkesson stated that those desiring more Sweden Democrat policy should vote for the SD, while those preferring Liberal policy should vote for L, effectively distancing the two parties.

This shift comes as the Liberal Party struggles in opinion polls, recently measuring at 1.9 percent, well below the 3.5 percent threshold required to enter parliament. Åkesson characterized the Liberals as a “bromskloss” (brake/hindrance) during the current mandate period and noted significant ideological differences regarding issues such as the euro, climate policy, and foreign aid.
