Sweden and Finland economic growth forecasts revised upward

Economic forecasts for Sweden and Finland indicate a period of growth and recovery. The Swedish National Institute of Economic Research (KI) has raised its growth forecast for Sweden to 2.4 percent this year, up from 2.2 percent, predicting that the recession will subside by 2027. While inflation fell to 0.7 percent in July due to temporary tax cuts on fuel, KI expects underlying inflation to rise above 2 percent next year, potentially prompting the Riksbank to raise interest rates by 0.25 percentage points later this year and again in 2027.

In Finland, economists from OP Pohjola predict the economy will grow by 2 percent both this year and next year. This is a significant upward revision from previous estimates of 1 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively. The growth is expected to be supported by strong exports, increasing investments, and a gradual recovery in private consumption. Despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, Finnish economists maintain that the economic outlook remains positive with moderate inflation expected to align with eurozone targets.
