Sweden enhances municipal crisis preparedness and total defense

Swedish municipalities are increasing their focus on crisis preparedness and total defense. In Tjörn and Stenungsund, activities marking Preparedness Week include exhibitions on civil defense, emergency water distribution, and the functionality of shelters and safety points.

In Helsingborg, the city has integrated preparedness into its organizational structure, allocating over 100 million SEK for rapid measures based on risk and vulnerability analyses. This includes upgrading infrastructure such as generators for elderly care homes, creating emergency water plans, and converting youth centers into safety points. The city's real estate committee now requires all investments to be evaluated through a total defense perspective, involving property owners in ensuring essential services like heating, water, and security systems remain functional during crises.
