Sweden experiences youth-led disturbances in Stenungsund and Stockholm

Youth gatherings involving electric scooters and mopeds have caused public disorder and safety concerns in different parts of Sweden.

In Stenungsund, a large group of children and teenagers on electric scooters entered a schoolyard during after-school activities, creating an unsafe environment for students and staff. The school reported that the group appears to be organized via a TikTok trend where participants sign up to meet at specific locations for group riding. Some youths were reportedly seen wearing masks, and witnesses reported instances of harassment.

In Stockholm, hundreds of youths gathered for a moped meet in Frihamnen after riding through the city. The gathering resulted in significant traffic disruptions due to obstacles placed by the participants. Police reported that some individuals threw stones at officers, prompting an investigation into crimes including sabotage against emergency services and violations of public order laws.
