European Parliament rejects proposal to lower MEP salaries
The European Parliament has voted against a proposal to reduce the salaries of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). The outcome of the vote mirrors a similar decision made two years ago.
In the recent vote, five parties opposed the reduction, two parties supported it, and one party abstained. The proposal specifically targeted the base salary portion of the total compensation, which is reported to be approximately 400,000 SEK per month, of which 116,000 SEK is the base salary.
