Sweden investigates suspected election fraud in Stockholm and Borlänge
Swedish authorities have launched investigations into suspected election fraud and irregularities following reports from election workers in several regions.
In Stockholm, specifically within the Järva area including Rinkeby, Tensta, and Husby, election supervisors reported seeing a constant stream of voters arriving with pre-marked ballots or prepared envelopes. One supervisor witnessed a group of approximately one hundred Eritrean women entering a polling station in Husby accompanied by two priests who were reportedly explaining how to vote. Workers described the situation as involving clan-based voting and systematic influence over voters.
In Borlänge, the National Anti-Corruption Unit and local police are investigating suspected improper conduct. Reports there include the use of pre-marked ballots and the organized transport of voters to polling stations. While some officials expressed concern over potential manipulation, Helle Bryn-Jensen of the Dalarna County Administrative Board stated that transporting voters by bus is not illegal and suggested that the scale of the issue may be overstated.
Legal experts have noted that these incidents fall into a “gray zone,” making it difficult to definitively categorize certain behaviors as criminal fraud under current regulations.
