Sweden launches travel agency concept for introverts
Visit Sweden has launched ‘The Introvert Travel Agency,’ a new campaign concept designed to position the country as a premier destination for travelers seeking solitude, silence, and low-stimulation environments. The initiative leverages Sweden’s low population density, vast natural landscapes, and cultural norms regarding personal space and quietude to attract those looking to avoid crowds and social pressure.
According to Visit Sweden CEO Susanne Andersson, the concept ensures that social interaction remains an option rather than an obligation. The campaign highlights Swedish social customs, such as the practice of ‘fika’—a structured coffee and cake break—and the cultural tendency to avoid unnecessary small talk. Research cited by the organization indicates a significant market for such travel, noting that a large percentage of respondents in the UK and US identify as introverts and seek holidays to recharge through alone time.
