Sweden maternity care: State takeover proposed to fix seasonal crises

Due to staff vacation schedules and regional capacity limits, many pregnant women in labor are forced to travel long distances to different regions when their local maternity wards are full. Borgehammar suggests that national coordination of personnel, capacity, and vacation planning is necessary to ensure safe and reliable care regardless of the time of year.
