Sweden national football team faces player shortage due to illness and injury
The Sweden men's national football team is facing a significant player shortage ahead of their Nations League match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. A wave of illnesses has affected several players, including Yasin Ayari, Benjamin Nygren, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Elliot Stroud, and Patrik Wålemark. Additionally, several players are unavailable due to injuries, such as Alexander Isak, Emil Holm, Hjalmar Ekdal, Dejan Kulusevski, Anthony Elanga, Isak Hien, and Jacob Widell Zetterström.
In response to the crisis, head coach Graham Potter has called in replacements, including Felix Beijmo, Samuel Dahl, Hugo Bolin, and Ken Sema. While expert Magnus Eriksson noted that the loss of so many key players affects Sweden's chances, Potter expressed a positive outlook, stating that the situation provides an opportunity for fringe players to prove themselves.
Some players, specifically Patrik Wålemark and Elliot Stroud, have already left the camp as they are unlikely to recover in time for the subsequent match against Romania.
