Centerpartiet maintains red lines in Swedish government formation talks

Political negotiations regarding the formation of a Swedish government remain deadlocked following a four-hour meeting between the Social Democrats (S), Left Party (V), Green Party (MP), and Center Party (C) on Lidingö. Despite the discussions, significant ideological tensions persist between the participating parties.

Center Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist stated that the party’s ‘red lines’ remain firm. She indicated that the Center Party would prefer an extra election over supporting a government that includes the Left Party. Thand Ringqvist noted that Magdalena Andersson holds the mandate to explore further options and determine the best course of action for government formation.
