Sweden defeats Poland 3-1 to lead Nations League group
Sweden secured a 3-1 victory against Poland at the Strawberry Arena in Solna, moving to the top of Group B4 in the UEFA Nations League with six points from two matches. The Swedish side, led by manager Graham Potter, took an early lead through Benjamin Nygren in the 8th minute following a corner. Poland equalized in the 43rd minute via Sebastian Szymanski, but Sweden regained control in the second half with goals from Yasin Ayari and Viktor Gyökeres.
Viktor Gyökeres, who has been in strong form for the national team, scored the final goal with a volley after a cross from debutant Patrik Wålemark. Despite leaving the pitch with blood-stained kit due to minor injuries, Potter confirmed Gyökeres is expected to be fit for upcoming matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Romania.
On the Polish side, the defeat has drawn criticism for manager Jan Urban. Former Polish football chief Zbigniew Boniek questioned the team's second-half performance, noting a lack of defensive cohesion. Poland currently sits third in the group with one point.
