Sweden proposes transitional budget without new political promises

Swedish Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson has outlined the principles for a transitional budget to be presented on November 12. The budget aims to maintain essential societal functions by extending current appropriation levels into the next year, adjusted for standard price and wage increases, rather than introducing new political initiatives or campaign promises.

While the budget is intended to be non-political, Svantesson confirmed that 4 million SEK has been allocated for Crown Princess Victoria’s 50th birthday celebrations next year. The Minister stated that this expenditure is considered a necessary societal function and expects broad support across the political spectrum.

Other specific adjustments include increased funding for the Swedish Armed Forces to support ongoing rearmament efforts. Following the presentation, other parliamentary parties will have until November 27 to propose changes to the budget.
