Sweden public transport monthly pass sales surge after price cuts

Sales of monthly public transport passes in Sweden have increased significantly following a temporary halving of prices during the second half of the year. Regions such as Luleå, Kronoberg, and Halland have reported dramatic increases in sales.

In Gävleborg, X-trafik saw a 54.6 percent increase in 30-day ticket sales during July and August compared to the previous year. While monthly pass sales have surged, sales of single tickets and annual passes have declined. Despite the high volume of pass sales, the actual increase in passenger travel has been described as moderate, with X-trafik reporting a 6.2 percent rise in travel during the same period.
